Composer Joe Harnell (1924 - 2005)

Sad to report that composer Joe Harnell has passed away. The details from his official site:

Joe Harnell passed away Thursday, July 14th 2005 of heart failure in Sherman Oaks, CA. Services will be private. A memorial celebration will be announced at a later date. Contributions may be made in Joe's name to USC Thornton School of Music, Los Angeles, CA.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK (TV series - five seasons)
THE BIONIC WOMAN (TV series - two seasons)
CAGNEY & LACEY (TV two hour pilot)
ALIEN NATION (TV two hour pilot)

Superman Theme Returns

In a recent interview at Comic-Con 2005, director Bryan Singer states that next year's SUPERMAN RETURNS will feature the JOHN WILLIAMS 'memorable main theme from the 1978 SUPERMAN movie.

Press Question: You mentioned that John Williams theme will be used in the film. Will that be the main theme over the opening credits? Will the opening credits be similar to the Christopher Reeves film?

Bryan Singer: Yes. Similar. It will have some other elements to it, but they will be similar... in the spirit of.

Vote for your favorite score!

Something for your soundtrack fans to do from our friends at the Flanders Film Festival:

Are you a soundtrack and film music fan? Then cast your vote for what you consider the best score of the past 12 months. You can vote for any film released between 1 JULY, 2004 and 30 JUNE, 2005.

How to vote? Simply go to the website
www.worldsoundtrackawards.com , click on the awards-section, and then on Public Choice Award. There you’ll find a list with all films released this past year.

The score that gets the highest number of votes will receive the Public Choice Award at the World Soundtrack Awards (WSA), the world’s most important awards for film music, in Ghent on Sat 15 October.
